South Carolina Unemployment Rate Drops
The unemployment rate for the State of South Carolina dropped slightly last month, after increasing a bit in May, the Department of Employment and Workforce said on Tuesday.
According to IslandPaket.com, the unemployment rate was 6.6 percent in June, compared to 6.8 percent in May. Nationwide, the unemployment rate for June was 5.3 percent.
The employment increased in June with 2,112,034 people working, and the number of people without jobs dropped about 4,400 since May.
Leisure and hospitality, and transportation and utilities had the biggest increase in June, adding 4,000 and 3,800 jobs respectively.
The lowest unemployment rate presented in the state was 5.5 percent in Charleston County, followed by Lexington County with 5.6 percent and Greenville County with an unemployment rate of 5.7 percent.
