Golf courses in Myrtle Beach, Charleston and Hilton Head place South Carolina among the world’s favorite golf destinations.

Myrtle Beach has also been recognized as the USA top golf destination, according to a poll conducted by golf.com, one of the world’s largest golf websites. Besides this prestigious recognition, Myrtle Beach was voted in 2014 as the 'Best Golf Destination in the World' in the 10 Best Travel Awards sponsored by USA TODAY, according tworldgolf.com

According to The Post and Courier, Joe Passov, columnist for Golf Magazine said, “I don’t think there’s a stronger package, in terms of three distinct destinations in a four-hour stretch than coastal South Carolina.”

With 151 golf courses around these three popular destinations, golfers have the possibility to play the sport they love, as well as enjoy the beautiful views that coastal South Carolina has to offer.

“We’re used to it being the ocean, but in the case of those three distinct South Carolina destinations, you also have the opportunity to play along the tidal marsh and the Intracoastal Waterway. That’s something special,” said Bradley Klein, the author of several golf architecture books and a senior writer for Golfweekmagazine.

According to The Post and Courier, the Palmetto State has also been named among the 10 Best Golf States ranking on top public courses per capita provided by Golf Digest, where South Carolina was ranked second behind Hawaii.

Some important tournaments hosted in these three popular destinations include the 2012 PGA Championship, played in The Ocean Course on Kiawah Island, and The World Amateur Handicap Championship, the world’s largest amateur golf event, hosted in Myrtle Beach every year between August 31 and September 4.
