Funeral Plans for Charleston Church Shooting Victims

Funeral services have been set across the state of South Carolina for the Charleston A.M.E. Church shooting victims. A report from ABC News provided the details below:


Two public viewings will be held Thursday. The first will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St. John African Methodist Episcopal Church in Ridgeland. The second will be from 6-8 p.m. at Emanuel A.M.E. in Charleston.

Pinckney's funeral will take place Friday at 11 a.m. at TD Arena on the College of Charleston campus, with President Barack Obama scheduled to deliver the eulogy. Burial will take place directly afterward at St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church in Marion.


Services for Sharonda Coleman-Singleton will be held on Thursday at the Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in North Charleston. A viewing will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by an Ivy Beyond the Wall ceremony, which memorializes a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority. Funeral services start at the church at 2 p.m.


A wake will run from 8:30-10 p.m. on Friday at Emanuel A.M.E. A ceremony will be conducted during the first half-hour by the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, of which Hurd was a member.

Hurd's funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Emanuel A.M.E., including a burial service at the church cemetery.

The 16 branches of the Charleston Public Library, where Hurd worked, will close Saturday to allow staff to attend the service.


Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Emanuel A.M.E. Sanders' aunt was Susie Jackson and their funerals will be held at the same time.


Viewing and visitation for Myra Thompson will be held on Sunday at The Palmetto Mortuary in Charleston from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and at Emanuel A.M.E. Church from 5-8 p.m.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. on Monday at Emanuel AME.


Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5-8 p.m., and the funeral will be 11 a.m. on Thursday at Royal Missionary Baptist Church in North Charleston.


Arrangements are pending for the Rev. Daniel Simmons Sr., a minister at Emanuel A.M.E.  Granddaughter Ava Simmons says flowers and gifts can be sent to New Life Church in Hampton, Virginia.


Visitation for the Rev. DePayne Middleton-Doctor will be held on Friday from 6-7 p.m. at St. Mark A.M.E. Church in Ravenel. A public viewing will be held Saturday from 3-6 p.m. at Palmetto Mortuary in Charleston. The funeral will be held at Emanuel A.M.E. Church at 1 p.m. Sunday.


Funeral services will held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Emanuel A.M.E. Jackson was Sanders' aunt and their funerals will be held together.
