NEW PBS Series - Black America Since MLK: And Still I Rise

In his new four-hour PBS series, Black America Since MLK: And Still I Rise, Henry Louis Gates Jr. embarks on a deeply personal journey through the last fifty years of African American history. The series premieres November 15 (Part 1) and November 22 (Part 2) at 8:00-10:00 p.m. on ETV.

Teachers … Plan to access the supporting lesson plans for these special programs that will be available beginning the week of the first program in PBS Learning Media.  Also, they will be accessible from the Black America website.

Joined by leading scholars, celebrities and a dynamic cast of people who shaped these years in Black America Since MLK: And Still I Rise, Gates travels from the victories of the civil rights movement up to today, asking profound questions about the state of black America—and our nation as a whole. From Stokely Carmichael to Barack Obama, James Brown to Beyonce, the programs chart the remarkable progress made and raise hard questions about the obstacles that remain.
