Developing Passionate Readers in a Digital World
Educators, you know the power of reading! Help your students develop a daily, joy-centered reading practice with the strategies in this new course from PBS TeacherLine! You’ll learn how to ignite students’ interest through personal, real-world connections, explore digital reading and audio technologies, discover how to use a wealth of online resources and tools, and analyze social reading’s power to connect and engage. You’ll also develop and implement a classroom literacy initiative that will inspire a love of reading through authentic experiences.
The course, RDLA400 Developing Passionate Readers in a Digital World (K-6), is the latest in PBS TeacherLine’s inventory of reading and language arts courses. Delivered entirely online and actively led by a highly-qualified facilitator, the course offers dynamic media, authentic tasks, and engaging peer discussion over its six-week period.
Course content is divided into the following themed sessions:
- Session 1: The Culture of Reading
- Session 2: Creating a Literacy Practice
- Session 3: Digital Reading and Resources
- Session 4: Reading to Connect and Engage
- Session 5: Transforming the Curriculum
- Session 6: Envisioning a Classroom of Readers
Offered at a cost of $355, the course earns 40 renewal credits (or two graduate credits for an additional fee).
