This special LIVE edition of ETV’s education series Carolina Classrooms will provide information that is timely for students seeking financial assistance for the 2016-17 school year, plus give the opportunity to get their questions answered. Before and during the LIVE program, students and parents may email questions to CarolinaClassrooms@scetv.org.

Assessment in K-12 Schools:  The topic of assessment in schools can often be confusing. Learn about changes in assessment for SC public school students as well as the results of a survey that looks at exactly how much testing is happening in schools today.  This program will provide interesting data and insight from education leaders, including Melanie Barton, Executive Director, SC Education Oversight Committee;  Dr. Sheila Quinn, Deputy Superintendent, Division of Innovation & Effectiveness, South Carolina Department of Education; and Dr. Sean Alford, Superintendent, Aiken County School District.

 Summer Camps:  Learn about unique summer camp programs offered for South Carolina students! We'll visit camps at Converse College, Ripley's Aquarium in Myrtle Beach, and the SC State Museum in Columbia. These summer camp opportunities engage students, making learning interesting and fun!

Celebrating Teachers:  We will visit with the SC Teacher of the Year finalists as we celebrate all teachers in SC and their achievements.  We will end the show with video of the winner being announced at the 2016 Teacher of the Year Celebration.

Language Immersion:  We’ll take a look at how immersion programs are growing in SC schools as a way to teach a second language.  See how students study a variety of subjects using their “new” language as teachers help them develop their competence and proficiency.
