The Arts in Every Classroom, Grades K-5

~8 week session  
Recertification: 20 Renewal Credits
Cost: $75.00

The Arts in Every Classroom, Grades K-5 course is designed around Annenberg/CPB Professional Development Workshops. This self paced course provides new ideas about working with the arts for K-5 classroom teachers and art specialist teachers. This one-hour course shows workshop leaders from the Southeast Center for Education in the Arts working with Learner Teams of teachers, principals, and arts specialists from three elementary schools. Using a curriculum unit based on a multi-arts performance piece by Cirque du Soleil, the participants learn to design their own arts-based units. 

Class participation takes place online through ETV's online course management system etvLEARNonline. The facilitator communicates via this online course platform. All assignments and discussion forums are conducted and facilitated online (Annenberg/CPB produced).

The Arts in Every Classroom: A Video Library, Grades K-5

 ~8 week session

The Arts in Every Classroom: A Video Library, Grades K-5 showcases art specialists and classroom teachers using the arts in a myriad of activities. The fourteen half-hour videos are grouped into four content categories: Introducing Arts Education, Art Specialists at Work, Arts in the General Classroom, and Organizing for the Arts. Each section offers new ideas for the veteran teacher as well as the newcomer. Principals, visiting or resident artists, parents, and members of the community also participate in the planning and implementing of programs. Not only will this self paced course demonstrate skills for teaching various aspects of arts education, it is also useful for meeting learning goals defined by the National Standards for Arts Education.

Connecting with the Arts: A Workshop for Middle Grade Teachers, Grades 6-8

The Connecting with the Arts: A Workshop for Middle Grade Teachers, Grades 6-8 course is designed around Annenberg/CPB Professional Development Workshops. This self paced course provides middle school teachers with opportunities to effectively integrate the arts with other subjects. The eight videos demonstrate a variety of approaches for creative learning experiences using several instructional models and various types of curriculum connections. This collaborative approach shows teachers how to plan with colleagues, design instruction, and evaluate student learning.

Connecting with the Arts: A Teaching Practices Library, Grades 6–8

The Connecting with the Arts: A Teaching Practices Library, Grades 6-8 self paced course includes 12 half-hour programs that feature a variety of meaningful arts integration approaches taking place in middle school classrooms around the country. The programs provide windows into classrooms around the country where teachers have already incorporated arts integration strategies into their work. Programs feature extensive classroom sequences and teachers telling their own stories. In each program, arts specialists and subject-area teachers will find ideas and projects they can take back to their own classrooms, as well as insights into planning and implementing an integrated curriculum.
