As Director of Education, Dean Byrd oversees SCETV's education initiatives. He works with education stakeholders in PreK-12, higher education, state agencies, local and state government, community groups and associations. The Division's goal is to provide quality, accountable, educational content on-demand. The staff provides training, communication, web production, project management, video streaming, marketing, and promotion for SCETV and partners' educational services.
Before beginning his career at SCETV in 2000, he worked at Isothermal Community College, Spindale, NC, as Broadcast Production Technology Instructor and Distance Learning Director. He also created the popular public radio station WNCW.
His education experiences include a BS degree at Clemson University, a Certificate of Distance Education at Indiana University, and a two-year AAS in Radio & TV Broadcasting Technology at Isothermal Community College.
